Wiise Digitize Packaging Guide
Sending in some media? We recommend following our best practices for each supported media type. These guidelines will help ensure that your media arrives safely and securely:
VHS & Cassette Tapes:
Find a sturdy shipping box and pack each VHS or Tape with bubble wrap. If possible, purchase some quality hard cases. Remember to label!
Add in some packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or crumpled paper to cushion the bottom of the box and fill any empty spaces to minimize movement.
Seal the box securely, and don't forget to label it as "Fragile - Handle with Care".
Consider insurance options and note any additional handling instructions if needed.
Don't forget to keep the tracking information and receipts for reference!
Projector Slides:
Slide Mailers are available for purchase and are highly recommended! Insert slides into individual slots of slide mailers and label them for easy identification.
Wrap mailers with extra bubble wrap or padding, place them in a very sturdy box, and fill empty spaces in the box.
Securely seal the box and label it with any desired handling instructions such as "Fragile - Handle with Care"
Consider insurance options and note any additional handling instructions if needed.
Don't forget to keep the tracking information and receipts for reference!
Polaroids & Developed Photos:
Archival sleeves or acid-free envelopes to protect the photos from moisture and damage are available and highly recommended! Choose sturdy shipping envelopes or boxes that fit the photos without excessive movement or bending.
Sort and label the photos for easy identification. Consider using backing boards for additional support.
Place the photos flat inside the archival sleeves or envelopes and insert protective layers to prevent bending or creasing.
Fill any empty spaces in the shipping package with packing material to prevent movement.
Securely close the package with strong adhesive tape and label it clearly with handling instructions such as "Fragile - Handle with Care".
Consider weather protection if there is a risk of moisture or extreme temperatures during shipping.
Consider insurance options and note any additional handling instructions if needed.
Don't forget to keep the tracking information and receipts for reference!
You can never be too careful when sending your fragile personal belongings! Please be sure to take extra time to very carefully pack your things into durable material and ensure that your items cannot move around or rattle inside your box once it is closed! We also recommend printing out any additional package identifiers to let mail carriers know of your contents and remind them to be extra careful with your media.
